Sherman County Community Foundation Brings Music to USD 352 with a $10,000 Grant for the Band Program
Goodland, KS – The Sherman County Community Foundation (SCCF) is excited to announce a $10,000 grant awarded to USD 352’s band program! Thanks to the passion and hard work of our energetic Band Director, Elliot Whisenant, the program is growing stronger every day. This grant will give a boost to the music program, helping keep instruments in top shape and ensuring students have the resources they need to keep the music going.
With this grant, SCCF is helping cover instrument maintenance costs and other essentials, which is a big support for the 5th and 6th-grade band, who rely mostly on donations. This funding will help keep instruments in good repair so that every note rings clear and true – from the practice room to halftime performances.
Director Whisenant’s spark has taken hold, with nearly every instrument now in top working order – a first for the program! The grant will also support the purchase of new band books for each 5th and 6th grader. Since these books are consumable, they’re designed to help students in their first and second years of band, laying a solid foundation for the higher grades and keeping the program going strong.
“Our students are learning, growing, and sounding better every day,” said Director Whisenant. “We’ve already seen big strides this year, and with this support, we’re thrilled about where we’re headed.”
The community can look forward to more lively at football games, basketball games, and concerts, all made possible by this incredible investment in the future of USD 352 music. Sherman County Community Foundation is proud to support programs that strengthen our community and bring people together through education and the arts.
